PITTSBURGH
"IT'S ALL ABOUT..."
written by David L. Caruso & Gene Barney
The summer music season is here and the anthems have started to arrive. Get out those cha-cha pumps and prepare to work the dancefloor all night long.
The Champion label responsible for last year's "WHAT HOPE HAVE I?", from Sphinx, and "YOU", from Staxx, gives us much new material. Sandy B's "MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND" is the first anthem of the summer. Kristine W returns with "ONE MORE TRY", mixed by Vasquez & Rollo. It's not as nice as "FEEL WHAT U WANT", but still it's a decent offering.
Livin' Joy is back. This time "DON'T STOP MOVIN", last time "DREAMER". Will this track be as big? It has lots of diva vocals and catchy piano rifts!
K-Klass is on the mix with Rebekah Ryan's "U LIFT", a track which will fill the floors.
Gena West gives us "JOY", mixed by Mark "Sugar Pie Guy" Picchiotti. Serial Divas also lend a beat or two for this anthemic romp. Adeva is in the mix with the Dancing Divas and Love To Infinity (LTI) on "I THANK YOU". LTI's version is very pretty as where the Dancing Divas create a very dark, moody, handbag mix. I can see the hands in the air.
LTI also remixes "BEFORE" from the Pet Shop Boys. Their new release also includes mix work by The Hed Boys ("Boys and Girls"), and Danny Tenaglia (who also produced). Diva Barbara Tucker ("I GET LIFTED", "STAY TO-
GETHER") serves up the backups. Even country singer Reba McIntyre gets the LTI treatment on her cover of "YOU KEEP ME HANGING ON", a track that is nothing to get excited over.
Mary Kiani covers "LET THE MUSIC PLAY" with Perfecto and Motiv8 mixes on the same cd single. The versions are all remarkably different.
an
Domestically speaking, Everything But The Girl releases "WRONG", a excellent follow-up to "MISSING", with Todd Terry still on the mix. Devan & Devain have released their underground version of "MISSING", only available on white label.
Vasquez mixes on Cher's "ONE BY ONE" and "STRANGEWORLD" by Ke. Both are now on cd single.
"SEXUALITY" is the topic of the song k.d. lang and the mixer is noneother-than Angel Moraes. It's very moody and trancey.
"S-EXPRESS '96" has arrived with new mixes by Tony DeVit, Carl Cox, and Aquarius. This is definitely a nice update.
"DIVINITY" is the new release from B.T. on Perfecto. Tori Amos lends her vocals on this strange collaboration.
From the people who gave us "PULSE", we have Soul Solution's "CAN'T STOP LOVE". There are new import remixes out by these people. HOT CD PICK OF THE MONTH K-KLASS: "Remix & Additional Production": Deconstruction Import
If you buy only one import this year, make it this cd. K-Klass is one of the best dance remixers around. As one can see from the artists included on this collection, K-Klass is a very sought-after mix service.
Of course, they're from Great Britain, yes they produce their own material, and their album UNIVERSAL, which came out last year contains all their of their big hits.

Is it true that you're a Marlo-Thomas-That-Girl-Wannabe? You must be watching way too much Nickelodeon. Also, while driving, please pay more attention to that speedometer unless you're hoping to act out a cop fantasy. FYI: there's a new shipment of DKNY just in at your favorite shopping palace. Tell Rose I said hello, and remind her to behave in public. Enjoy!! Edna St. Vincent Man-Lay

"Remix & Additional Production" contains many of previously unavailable mixes, not to mention all the the best import mixes on one cd. Imagine what you would pay individually per single. Best yet... it's beat-mixed too.
Juliet Robert's hits "I WANT YOU" & "CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE" both appear, both rare mixes from last year. The classic Knuckles and Adeva "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME" reaches its highest peak in the mix with the M People's "LOVE RENDEZVOUS" and De'Lacy's mega hit "HIDEAWAY". New Order, Shiva, Sunscreem, and even (eeek!) Bobbie Brown are found on this album. This is definitely worth the purchase. <<DAVID & GENE>>
